Natural Diaper Rash Remedies

!±8± Natural Diaper Rash Remedies

Ouch! Few things are more uncomfortable than baby's diaper rash. Almost all babies have at least one case of rash during their diapering years. Using a natural remedy may be best for baby's delicate diaper area. Here are a few tips:

Let baby air out

Taking off the diaper and allowing baby to lie naked on a towel or blanket as often as possible may clear up rash. Or pin on a cloth diaper loosely so air can circulate.

Clean baby with water and cloth wipes

Commercial baby wipes contain chemicals and perfumes that can irritate baby's skin, predisposing him to rash or making an existing one worse. Cleaning baby with water and cloth wipes (or using a mild natural soapy solution for messy changes) is preferable.

Use natural detergents for diaper laundry

Residues left in commercial detergents may be harsh, drying baby's skin. Switch to a natural detergent and do a double rinse.

Change baby frequently

For a time, go on hyper alert and change baby's diaper quickly each time it gets soiled. Urine and fecal matter can burn baby's skin and cause painful rash. This is especially true as baby begins eating solid foods. Breastfed babies generally have fewer episodes of rash. If you're bottlefeeding and baby's rash is persistent, talk to your Pediatrician about changing the formula.

Try a diaper change
In addition to changing baby frequently, try using a different kind of diaper altogether. Some babies who experienced chronic rash with disposables will do much better with cloth diapers. Or at least switch to perfume free, natural disposables like the ones made by Seventh Generation, Tushies, MotherNature or Nature Boy & Girl.

Treat thrush (yeast infection)

Thrush is a common cause of diaper rash. Following the above tips will help, but if it persists, talk to your Pediatrician. S/he may recommend an antifungal medication safe for baby. You can also try Gentian Violet, available at many drugstores. Ask your Doctor for recommendations. A baking soda wash (one Tablespoon dissolved in a half cup of water) may help also. Pat it on baby's bum with cotton balls after each change.

Acidophilus is safe for babies and can help combat yeast, especially a rash that may appear after baby has taken antibiotics. Ask a health care provider to recommend a brand and dose.

Use a bottom balm

Try a diaper rash cream made from natural ingredients to help form a barrier, keeping waste away from baby's skin. Look for calendula, Vitamin E and evening primrose oil in the list of ingredients. Burt's Bees and Weleda are excellent brands.

Talk to your Doctor

Persistent rash (especially if it's a "bulls eye" around the baby's bottom) can be a symptom of food allergy. Your Doctor may recommend an elimination diet to help you find the culprit. Often babies outgrow their sensitivities at around age 3 and you might be able to reintroduce the food then.

Home Staging & Cleaning With Environmentally Friendly Products

!±8± Home Staging & Cleaning With Environmentally Friendly Products

As a Central Florida Home Stager I work with many clients making recommendations as they prepare for a sale. Professional Home Staging is the best way to receive top dollar and sell fast! Remember though, all the staging in the world can't sell a dirty home! Here is a list of products that will help get the job done quickly, smell wonderful and are good for the environment and you! That's right, gentle cleaners that are kid and pet friendly!

Getting your home ready for a sale can be a big undertaking so I'm going to provide some cleaning suggestions and some actual products to make your life easier as you delve into every room.

Kitchen-Be sure to scrub the backsplashes, under the fan hood, which usually is splattered with months of dinner, as well as inside of your appliances! This really shows a buyer that you take pride in your home and also lets them feel comfortable with the fact that these might soon be their appliances. Should you choose to invest in this room take a look at the faucets, cabinet and drawer hardware and replace anything dated. This room usually makes or breaks the deal in a home. After all it is the heart of any home!

Cleaning Tip: Use Method's all purpose cleaning spray for counters, floors, sinks and any surface. It's safe for your whole family and really gets the job done! Use their Premium Surface Stainless Steel spray cleaner to get rid of all those fingerprints!

Bathrooms-This is the second busiest zone in the house and really needs a deep cleaning. Be sure to scrub the tub and shower stall areas well. The grout in tiles between can grow mildew and start to become a dark gray color that can concern buyers. Be sure to really get in between the floor tiles too! It is important to keep the toilet bowl and sinks sparkling and don't forget to polish those fixtures and faucets! If you have dated faucets, do replace them as they significantly add value to this room!

Cleaning Tip: You can use a mix of baking soda and vinegars to clean out drains and make a paste with baking soda and water to use as a scrubbing agent that won't give off harsh fumes. Method also makes a tub & tile cleaner that smells like eucalyptus mint! What a great way to make cleaning easier and delight your senses. Use their glass cleaner called window wash in mint for a streak-free shine! Use their matching micro fiber cloth which saves paper towels and is reusable and can be washed. They also have a daily shower cleaner to keep soap scum at bay.

Hardwood Floors- If you are lucky enough to hardwood flooring, it is important to show them at their best to your potential buyers. First ensure they are in good shape. If they are not have them sanded, stripped and refinished as this will be a key selling feature in your home. Once they are in good shape you'll want to maintain their luster and remove any dirt, or spills. If you have hardwood underneath carpet, rip it up! You heard me! Your hardwood has much more value than carpet any day.

Cleaning Tip: Firstly, give your floors a big vacuum to remove any large particles or anything that could scratch the floor while you clean it. Next, use the compostable sweeping cloths within a product like the OMOP by Method. Their starter kit contains the mop, floor cleaner in almond scent along with a washable, reusable mop pad. These were specially designed for hardwood.

They also proivde products for ceramic tile and linoleum flooring as well in their other mop kit.

Air Freshening- After cleaning your home, it is important to keep your home smelling fresh and inviting. Firstly, remove any shoes in the hallway as they are clutter anyway as well as any pet paraphernalia. The pet can stay! Ensure that laundry is done regularly as to not create a smell in the bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room. Be sure to keep boxes of baking soda in your fridge and freezer and throw some in your dishwasher cycle also.

Freshness Tip: To conserve energy opt to use a diffuser instead of a plug in product. The scented oil travels up a group of bamboo sticks that diffuse your scent into the air and they look pretty to boot! Method's got several diffusers to choose from in stylish white ceramic. If you want to hide your air freshener, choose an aroma spray or ring to place behind a toilet or in a closet. They also offer traditional soy candles to set the mood as well!

Here is a great set to get your started that will detoxify your home in the process:

Wishing you and yours the best as you clean house, kill germs, detoxify your space, and keep the environment in tact while you are at it! While cleaners like bleach are inexpensive and readily available they are highly toxic to yourself, your children and even your pets! They also happen to cause an overgrowth of algae in our oceans and water systems that kiss thousands of fish everyday! Most products contain sulfates, bleach and other harsh chemicals that can harm your lungs, eyes and can be absorbed through skin.

**On a side note I am not being compensated by Method Products to promote their products, they are personally the best forward thinking products I've used that get results and they happen to smell great too! I also recommend others like Seventh Generation for dish detergent and other products. Visit the following websites for more cleaning tips, and facts that will keep you healthy and happy at: http://www.seventhgeneration.com/ and the method site at http://http://www.methodhome.com/

My mission is to positively transform the lives and homes of everyone I meet, one home at a time. Happy Cleaning! Contact Florida Home Staging today to book a home staging consultation or staging session to get your home show-ready.

Storage Of Your Drinking Water In An Emergency

!±8± Storage Of Your Drinking Water In An Emergency

Most survivalists if solicited as to the primary item which they would store up on for an emergency it has to be water. You should always plan for at least one gallon of water per day per person. With this requirement for fresh drinking water in an emergency you should have some idea as to what you can store that water in.

You could rush to the store and purchase the gallon jugs of water similar to those which milk products come in. These fragile and thin jugs tend to leak after a couple of years. I personally have had them leak within 6 months of purchase so I have slowly eliminated those type of containers from my emergency food storage. I do not even use them for my dry foods such as beans or rice.

Several people have commented that they have tried using the jugs that windshield washer
fluid comes in. They claim that if you let them sit idle for a month and then replace the liquid that they are safe as ever to use. They state that this procedure gets all the blue liquid out. I personally may be too cautious but I would not recommend this method nor would I use it.

The best method to use is the one that works successfully for you. Some people will use barrels to store their water in while some will use the five and seven gallon plastic jugs. I personally use the two liter soda bottles. A word of warning here is do not keep these bottles for any extended length of time unless you plan to put a few drops of bleach in each. Try to refresh the water contained in the bottle on a scheduled basis.

You should not use any type of jug that did not originally have a food substance in them. These containers are not food grade and are not safe to use for your drinking water. Keep in mind that not all plastics are food type plastic. Toxins from the plastic can leach into your water and quickly poison your family members and yourself. The rule to follow here is Be careful. As an example Bleach bottles should not be used for water storage.

Even though there are many plastic bottles that you can not use for drinking water there is no ruling which would forbid you from using them for other liquid purposes. You could safely use empty soap jugs for washing water storage. Since it already contains remnants of your favorite laundry detergent in it there is no problem here. They also seem to store fairly well.

The new style bottles which have spigots attached would be useful for releasing small amounts of washing water as you need it. This is a great product in the event of a power outage. Although it is not an excellent source for disinfection type washing it is a splendid item by itself to lightly wash your hands with.

Living Green, but clean your house

!±8± Living Green, but clean your house

Okay, you've heard of global warming, the importance of recycling and a lot about organic food. You get the idea that going green is the wave of the future, but I'm not sure how they fit in. Through simple changes that not only helps the environment, but will your family and pets from toxic chemicals used in normal cleaning of the house are saving.

Whether you know it or not, there are many products on the market are extremely harmful to yourHealth and that of your family and pets. This can cause irritation to many eyes, skin and nose. Not to mention, these chemicals persist for days and weeks after you've finished with them. It ends up creating a small chemical compound in their homes, which allows you to breathe all the time. This is partly due to cleaning products, but also the colors that we use on our walls, our furniture, paints and glues and formaldehyde into our carpet.

There is hope! The new products arerevolutionized the way we live and around the house. These days you can buy an ecological house and install everything from flooring to window treatments that are best for you and the environment. Yes, these options are a bit 'expensive but worth it in the long run. You can not use a price for their own health and that of your family. There are also large areas of entertainment cleaners that smell great, are nontoxic, biodegradable and will not harm our precious planet. ThisIngredients do not include chemicals that have regular products such as bleach and still contain sulfates or oil content, but the ingredients are herbal. Why is it important? Well, let's not forget that gasoline is a nonrenewable resource that is quickly exhausted. Sulfates cause of excessive growth of algae in our waters and killing fish every day. We can do something!

All of these new generation products are generally based on wellrecyclable plastic and are recyclable themselves. They can also be used for your other home made cleaning concoctions such as vinegar or water, and sodium bicarbonate.

There are many new companies that offer products at the time, you might have seen some recently on Oprah.
